Thursday this week was a great gift for us all, as our Auntie Annie came to celebrate Easter with us. We had not seen one another since we made the move to Atlanta. We are all glad that she made the trip to spend some time with us in our new home. Unfortunately, she will be leaving us tomorrow, but we will see her again at our cousin's - Tina - wedding this coming week. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Today we managed to accomplish quite a bit all before noon. We decided to attend the Easter Egg Hunt at St. Peter Chanel's (SPC) this morning at 10:00am, and boy, were we in for a surprise when we arrived. There was a slew of little kids running around everywhere anxiously waiting for the whistle to blow, so they could wreak havoc all over the field where the Easter Eggs lay on the green grass. There were three separate fields for various age ranges. Gianna and Olivia, of course, "hunted" in the 0-3 age section, which was in a big mulched area underneath a tree. When they blew the whistle to begin the hunt, it was like a bunch of mini-thoroughbreds jumping the fence, racing to pick up the eggs as if their lives depended on it. It was hilarious!
We got some really great pictures of the girls (as you can see), but Gianna was terrified of the Easter Bunny, so we weren't fortunate enough to get any of those. Olivia, on the other hand, wasn't phased by any of it, and was mesmerized by Mr. Bunny.
After the "hunt" we walked around the Queen of the Angels school grounds, which is where the hunt took place. Queen of the Angels is the elementary school associated with SPC. During our walk we found a pretty grotto with a statue of Our Lady, and Gianna was immediately enthralled by Our Lady and the flowers that surrounded (see pictures below). After our little stroll we packed things up and headed over to Roswell Park for a Holy Saturday picnic.
The night before Katie and Auntie Annie prepped chicken salad sandwiches, chips, pickles and yummy brownies with walnuts. After lunch Gianna was ready to hit the swing-sets. Not long after, she was ready to move on to the next biggest thing: the "big kid" slide. Auntie Annie and Gianna made their way to the top as Mommy and Daddy looked on, but they "chickened" out at the last minute. However, Gianna did finally go down the slide with Daddy, but even Daddy was scared of the height and the slide himself, but they survived.
Overall, it was a great day, and we were glad we could spend it with Auntie Annie. Enjoy the pics!
